About

Hello and welcome!
I'm Carissa, a 31-year-old military wife, dog mom, full-time bridal stylist (currently, anyway), part-time calligrapher, and a mama at heart  I'm just waiting for my baby. I've blogged elsewhere before, but I created this space, Dreaming of Lullabies, to document my journey through infertility.

As a former journalist, I still feel the urge to write out my thoughts and feelings, and I found I could no longer keep the emotional roller coaster that is infertility bottled up inside my head. I also felt a desire to connect with others who are going through the same struggle, who like me are dreaming of and praying for the child they already so deeply love. Because I truly believe that only love  and hope, as hard as it is  could supply the strength needed to travel down this painful path filled with countless tests and treatments, incredible expense, many tears, and what seems like an endless amount of waiting.

My blessing in all this, I've discovered, is my strong, supportive and ever-optimistic husband who has remained steadfast by my side through it all, the good and the bad. Greg is my rock, the one who helps me keep my faith when hope is hard to hold onto. He dreams of our baby, too. We've been friends since high school, were married in San Diego in May 2014 and have moved three times since then! (First to Florida, then New Jersey, and now the Bay Area). 2016 was all about getting answers regarding my infertility (you can read our full TCC timeline here); we're hopeful that 2017 will be the year we get pregnant and, just maybe, bring home a baby.

Thanks for reading, and dreaming, with us.

xoxo
Carissa
